Letter reading "Phone 1461 Chaffey and Verhoeven Block, 289 Garry Street - B.E. Chaffey, Barrister, Solicitor, Notary Publice &c - Winnipeg, Man. 6th March, 1909. Dear Sir:- I have yours of 30th Jany. The market for scrip is dull and there is no money to be made at the prices here although scrip is comparative low. Now whenever I want money scrip, or land scrip and ask for them the parties say they are sending north and expect to get some in. Now couldn't you buy this scrip from me at first hand in the north, so that I could save that commission. Another point, I expect Mr McLean will go north this Spring in June to issue scrip, could not I make an arrangement with you to buy some of the scrip for me. You could possibly arrange it with some person at the poasts [ie posts] where scrip will be issued. I don't think it would pay to send a man from here on that purpose, as he might not get enough scrip to pay expences [ie expenses], and the man I had in view coming from that country is not trust-worthy. And it is dangerous proceeding to place money in the hands of a party you are not sure of. Is it advisable in such a case to deposit the money with the Hudson's Bay Company here and get a credit on their poasts [ie posts], or to send the actual cash. Of course the former is the most convenient and safe. But in detailing with the Natives here they always wanted cash in their hand. Please give this matter consideration and let me hear from you. I am also expecting now at any time to have the deeds and papers expected from you. Your truly, B.E. Chaffey - Angus McKay, Esq. Isle a la Crosses c/o Hudson's Bay Co, Prince Albert"
