Description
-
Letter from T.G. Greene, Canadian artist, to Alfred J. Pyke, principal of Saskatoon Collegiate Institute (presently named Nutana Collegiate), accepting the offer of Pyke to send a painting in for the Memorial Art Gallery. He chooses "Maple Sap." After reading from the "Hermes"--S.C.I.'s yearbook--and the aims of the gallery, he reduces the price of his painting by forty per-cent to $250. Finally, he expresses his thanks for the encouragement toward Canadian artists, and the efforts of S.C.I., by treating "themes . . . in a modern manner. When I reflect that the name of at least one of our immortal dead would be attached to the picture, I feel an emotion too keen for words."
