In 1924 the Women's Canadian Club of Regina held a second competition for pioneer stories of Saskatchewan. This is one of the stories submitted. This story is about a group of settlers from Ontario who, in 1882, moved west and obtained homesteads in the Qu'Appelle Valley, Saskatchewan. These early settlers experienced hardships and privation. As well, reference is made to the Riel Rebellion of 1885.
