LeMesurier (who wrote the caption on the photo): "He was a farm pupil that was sent to Cannington Manor to be taught [raised?] farmers. Remittance men came out of there. He was an educated man. He was born in India. His father was a military man. Educated in England, sent to Canada in about 1882 or 3, and he didn’t take to farming life too well. He was interested in the Indians. Very interested while he was here. He interacted with them. But he didn’t stay very long. He went on to Victoria, BC, and taught at the university out there. Did something at the university. I can’t tell you all… that’s who he was. And his brother, Arthur, stayed..."
